Welcome to our Sunday School Department. We have organized our Sunday School so that each person and family can find a comfort zone, be accepted, give of yourself and receive from others.
Agape Class: This class is made up of younger married couples. The class is led by different teachers. The class studies selected short term offerings allowing for dialoguing, hands-on material. Orientation Class: This class is to help new people get acquainted with our church, The United Methodist Doctrine, polity, to help you discover your Christian gifts. This class lasts about four (4) weeks. Jim MacLeay is the teacher Fellowship Class: This class is made up of all age adults, couples, singles, and families. We are studying using the International Bible Studies quarterly We learn by discussion and lecture. The Pastor's Class has frequent social gatherings so that everyone gets to enjoy the fellowship of others. Mrs. Veronica Calfee, a learned Bible scholar in her own right, leads this class. Sunshine Class: This class is mostly women of all ages. Topics and issues of interest are used. Joanna Poythress is the teacher. Fidelis Class: The Fidelis Sunday School class is for women over 30. If you want a class that studies the Bible and applies it to your daily walk, then this is the class for you. We are a very caring, loving class and we share a lot of good times as well as our needs. We use the " Adult Bible Studies" literature. Helen Mac Leay is the teacher Lifters Class: This class is made up of couples. The class is taught by lecture and discussion using the International Sunday School Lesson. Linda Raley is the teacher. Friendship Class: This class is made up of all age adults, and discussion is the mode of teaching. Rev. Allen Jewett is the teacher. The
Youth Department is divided into
Junior and Senior High. The classes meet separately for Sunday School, however,
they meet together for Sunday Evening Bible Study and UMYF on Wednesday. Wanda
Reid is the Junior High teacher; Aaron Rosenberg, the Youth Director, teaches the
Senior High group. The Youth Director leads the Sunday evening program and
directs the UMYF. Children: The Children’s department is divided by grade levels. We have an extended session during Morning Worship for pre-school age children. Grades 4 and 5: This group is taught by Gwen Meeks (Boys) and Anna Allred (Girls). United Methodist and other literature are used along with enrichment activities. Grades 2 and 3: This class is taught by stories and enrichment activities. Kindergarten and First Grade: Leslie Brooks teaches this class using Bible Stories and enrichment activities. Toddlers (3 & 4 year olds): This class is taught by Sally McClanahan using Bible stories and hands-on activities. Toddlers (2 year olds): Peggy Lilly teaches this class using hands-on activities. Nursery: A nursery for bed babies (infant-two years) is available each service. We have Children's Time at the beginning of worship and then the smaller children may attend an extended session which includes child care and Bible stories. We believe that our Sunday School Program will meet your expectations and your needs.
